Accessible Vietnam14 March 2016
Vietnam promises a truly unique cultural experience, where the history is rich and the street food delicious, and the architecture like nothing you are likely to have seen before.
Below, you will find the itinerary for this spectacular accessible experience.
B: Breakfast / L: Lunch / D: Dinner
Flight from London Heathrow at 14:45.
Breakfast will be served on the plane, and after arriving in the capital city of Hanoi, your guide will welcome you to your hotel. Following a rest and a chance to freshen up, you will be invited to sample your first taste of Vietnamese gastronomy, before enjoying a tour of Hanoi, taking in the historical quarter and the quarter of the “36 old streets and guilds”. (L-D)
Explore the timeless city of Hanoi further, enjoying a morning dedicated to the renowned Ho Chi Minhh and, following lunch in a Vietnamese villa, an afternoon learning about the ancestral traditions of Vietnam’s varied ethnic heritage. Explore the night market in the evening before sampling the splendid street foods. (B-L-D)
Visit the Dry Halong Bay, drinking in the lush green karst mountains and the comparative solitude, a lost countryside temple and the region’s distinctive rice paddies. You will lunch in Ninh Binh, which was the capital of three feudal dynasties during the 10th century, before returning to Hanoi for one last night. (B-L-D)
A short flight to coastal Danang, in central Vietnam, where you will dine in the old town and stay overnight in Hoi An. (B-D)
Tour Hoi An, a UNESCO heritage site, which is an entirely pedestrian area filled with colourful buildings and picturesque streets, hanging lanterns and 16th century architecture. Enjoy a free afternoon before staying overnight in Hoi An again. (B-D)
Fly to Saigon, the economic capital of Saigon typified by its beautiful, often French-style architecture and luxury shops. At some point in the day, take a comfortable break in the park with a specially made, sweet iced coffee. (B-D)
Explore the Mekong Delta, the wealthiest and reputedly most hospitable place in Vietnam. This watery maze of rice paddies and luscious orchards, floating markets and friendly villages, will keep you engaged until your return to Saigon at the end of the afternoon. (B-L-D)
On your last full day in Vietnam, your hotel room will remain at your disposal until 6pm, when you will check out. You will begin the day in Tao Dan Park, where locals perform Tai Chi each morning and others, more uniquely, meet to show off their favourite birds and teach them how to sing. A visit to the Ho Thi Ky flower market and the option to buy last-minute souvenirs will draw your holiday to a fitting close, with a farewell dinner taking place in a colonial villa before your late night flight home. (B-D)
Arrive back at London Heathrow at 07:40.
