12 Accessible Years!

In the past 12 years, Enable Holidays has witnessed a rollercoaster ride of twists and turns in the world of accessible travel. We thought that now was as good a time as any to offer a brief retrospective on the past decade, as well as the past year.

Since identifying a need for a better range of options for holiday makers with impaired mobility in 2003, Enable Holidays has seen a broadening of options for disabled travellers. For the UK’s mobility-impaired tourist, there are now more accessible tours to choose from, better assistance at the airport and destination available, a closer focus from accommodations to ensure ample accessibility, and, in Enable Holidays’ case, a range of worldwide holiday destinations expanding from just 10 to the 50+ that we are proud to offer now in 2016.

 

 

At our launch in 2004, Enable Holidays was a pioneer in the field of specialist travel, and was the very first tour operator to introduce a personal auditing service to evaluate the level of accessibility at the hotels, apartments and villas in our range. A full Enable Holidays audit covers over 150 points, and the vast majority of our accommodation is inspected by a trusted Enable Holidays partner. We remain confident that the standards we maintain today are at the very pinnacle of the accessible travel industry.

Enable Holidays’ first ever booking was one to Orlando, and from these origins Enable Holidays swiftly gained a reputation for being a reliable, hard-working and passionate travel provider. Along the way we have been nominated for and won awards, expanded our destination range to cover resorts in four separate continents, and are now able to offer more than 500 different accommodations across the world.

 

 

In the past year alone, Enable Holidays has added new exotic tours to Ecuador and Vietnam, and we are poised to introduce safari trips to South Africa; we have added dozens of new accessible accommodation and rooms in resorts across Europe, including the brand new destination of Sicily; and we have visited and personally audited properties in Catalonia, Cyprus, San Sebastian, and Antigua.

In times of change, as we prepare to move to newer, bigger, better and more accessible premises next month, it’s always worth looking back to see how far we have come. So here’s to a successful past, and an even more accessible future!
