Sun-soaked Cyprus is a much-loved accessible holiday destination and has been for many years, and is often as welcoming to those with mobility impairments as those without. It is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and offers sandy beaches and towering mountains, traditional village and bustling cities, rich mythology as well as a contemporary culture.
Enable Holidays has a long list of audited and fully adapted hotel rooms and apartments waiting for tourists wishing to visit Cyprus for its inviting climate, Mediterranean cuisine and ample opportunities for exploration and relaxation.
While Greek is the official language English is spoken widely throughout, making a visit a little more convenient than many other European destinations.
The Cypriot cuisine is closely related to that of Greece, with fresh ingredients, regionally grown olive oil and a variety of locally sourced herbs and spices providing a delicious set of culinary experiences to enjoy. The most common and most famous is Meze, a dish that consists of a filling, tapas-like selection of savoury dips, fresh vegetables, plus meats and seafood, all combining to make an exotic and delicious canapé or entrée. You are also likely to find the meat skewer dish souvlaki, the beef stew stifado, and the delicious lamb and aubergine dish moussaka.
The nightlife can range from sedate and dignified to raucous and carefree, depending on the experience you are craving. Though Cyprus’s most hedonistic days have passed, there are still plenty of bustling party nights to attend in resorts such as Ayia Napa if that is what you are hungry for. Alternatively, areas such as Paphos and Coral Bay are likely to supply revellers with a more relaxed evening on the tiles, with their less densely populated but still highly appealing bars and restaurants.
