Across to the Med, you’ll find a large modern villa that's situated in the prestigious area of Cala Llonga, on the island of Menorca. It’s just perfect for a family holiday as it can also sleep up to six people. It's purposely built for guests with limited mobility as it has an accessible outdoor pool, ramps leading to the property and bedrooms with adapted bathrooms.
The villa is well suited for wheelchair users, as you access the property via a gentle ramped path with handrail. There are two ground floor bedrooms which both have adapted bathrooms with room to manoeuvre a wheelchair and the pool can be accessed with a full-length ramp with handrail.

Dr Helen Cowan and her husband William have been frequent visitors to Germany for quite a few years, but following the closure of their favourite hotel in the heart of Berlin, they turned to Enable to find them a suitable alternative and help plan their itinerary.

"Enable Holidays helped us to have an amazing time in Germany’’, said Helen.
‘’The team identified Hotel Abba for us, and we loved it! Less than a minute's walk from the famous Kurfürstendamm, in a residential street, Hotel Abba was well suited for wheelchairs. The staff were friendly, the breakfast amazing, and we were able to enjoy evening strolls along the shop-lined avenues, and a 10-minute walk to a world class concert at the Kaiser Wilhelm memorial church. Hotel staff booked us accessible taxis to explore the city, and we used the hotel as a base for a mobile bicycle repair man to come and fix a wheelchair puncture!
The other half of our holiday was spent at our favourite 'barrier-free' hotel in Rheinsberg. The old town with its palace and lake is a haven away from the busy world. The hotel specialises in disabled holidays, and everything is accessible, with a touch of luxury too. Some knowledge of German language is essential in this beautiful town."
Shanaz Aslam was also quick to share her family’s delight following their first holiday abroad to Costa Brava.

‘’Thanks to Jacqui and the team at Enable, everything went smoothly. The adapted transfers, seating on the flights and assistance teams at the airports, hotel accommodation, the very helpful hotel staff, the medicine bag, the adult nappy arrangements in the hold, not to mention the care of our disability buggy for our son, Adam.
‘’I was really worried to start with, but after several conversations with the team, my anxiety was reduced to say the least; I wanted to show Adam another country and Enable helped me achieve this, no detail was left out. Amazing people and company.
As far as Yorkshire couple Philip and Kate are concerned, Enable Holidays are always the first port of call.
As Kate explains: ‘’There’s only one travel company that we trust for our travel arrangements, and that’s Enable holidays.

‘’We’re not wheelchair-users, but both of us are registered disabled with several heart-related conditions, and I also have a pacemaker, meaning mobility is a major issue. We’re unable to cope with steps and inclines, but Warren and the Enable team always find a top-quality hotel that meets our needs, making each holiday far more accessible and enjoyable. Over the last few years, we’ve been on two exotic holidays to Thailand, a fabulous trip to Turkey, a great value break in Bulgaria, and several visits to the Canary Islands. We’re now looking forward to planning our next holiday, and there are no prizes for guessing who we’ll be booking it with.’’

Maison des Landes combines the relaxing atmosphere of a modern hotel designed for people with disabilities, offering the very latest accessible facilities for disabled guests, their families and carers.
Since its original opening 60 years ago, the property has always specialised in providing accessible accommodation for people with impaired mobility, meaning its guests are in the safest environment and most caring hands.
Each accessible bedroom room is individually designed, all have been totally refurbished. The ground floor bedrooms are fully accessible with ceiling hoists to aid transfers, some of which are premium rooms that have continued tracking from the beds to the wet room, which means that we can select the accommodation to suit specific needs.
The spacious lounge and adjacent orangery form a welcoming place for visitors to relax, have a chat or read a book. The dining room seats 48 diners, and during the summer, guests can dine al fresco on the patio, where staff can also prepare food on the BBQ.
The hotel has a large indoor hydrotherapy pool specially designed with wheelchair ramps and hoists for easy access.

The purpose of my visit was to sample what the Valencian region has to offer disabled holidaymakers; and I was delighted to see the focus that’s been placed on accessibility and the many well-equipped facilities that are available to make sure people with limited mobility can enjoy a wealth of experiences.
Onda Castle is an awe-inspiring example of a 10th century Muslim castle, which offers good levels of accessibility and a wealth of historical artefacts housed in an innovative museum space.
Although from another era in time, the cathedral of Castelló de la Plana is another wonderful building that’s well worth a visit. And when exploring on the wilder side, I was very impressed with my visit to Nules. Here we experienced the fabulous scenery and birdlife of the municipal natural landscape at L'Estany, where we ventured along the coastal lagoon which is fed by the expansive marshland waters.
Continuing on a water-based theme, our party voyaged on an accessible boat trip at Albufera de Valencia, whilst back on dry land, we were given an accessible guided tour of the Oceanografic of Valencia – a wonderful subterranean world that gets you close to marine life behind glass-walled globes and tunnels.
If science is your passion, I can highly recommend a visit to The Planetari de Castelló de la Plana, which is housed within a striking large dome. The planetarium has four exhibition rooms and a projection room.
Naturally, our stay to Valencia had to include a glass of wine (or two), and the opportunity to discover two wineries at Vera de Estanas and Monovar was a real pleasure. Once more, it was great to see that accessibility is a key priority, meaning disabled visitors are able to take a close-up view of the art of wine making and sample the produce.
Most importantly of all, I wanted to dedicate as much time as possible of my stay in Valencia to checking out the quality of the accessible accommodation and the disabled facilities in the region. And I’m pleased to report that this is the area that impressed me the most, meaning I’ve been able to bring back an extensive portfolio of properties and restaurants that we will be including in our holiday programmes going forward. This is just a quick summary of the highlights of my Valencian trip. If you’d like to learn more or have any questions regarding this exciting destination, please call me or email me here.
