Alvor is an idyllic fishing village that is fantastic for seafood lovers, where you can sample the delights of the region’s rich traditional cuisine. 

The popular accessible holiday destination of Alvor has somehow managed to maintain its traditional feel in spite of the many new bars and restaurants that line the narrow streets.  The 16th Century Parish Church offers an insight into Alvor’s past, while elsewhere the atmosphere throbs with modern live music and the delicious smells of contemporary food dishes.

While the village itself has much to offer, people are likely to visit here as much for the natural lagoon it faces, as well as the picturesque long beach and its concealed coves.  The sandy stretches of gold offer the opportunity for watersports as well as places to sunbathe and relax, and the Praia os Tres Irmaos beach even has a fort from the late 1600s at one end.

The harbour-front fish restaurants are among the best places to eat in Alvor, and serve up freshly caught lobster, monkfish and other sumptuous specialities.
