Colonia Sant Jordi is popular with tourists craving a more authentic Mallorcan destination that offers a different experience to the busier, more tourist-focused resorts in the region, while the Cala Barca has been more specifically developed for tourists.

The quaint fishing village of Colonia Sant Jordi has gained popularity over the decades, but remains, for the most part, calm and composed.   In many ways, it is just as agricultural and as much a fishing town as it was in the 1800s.  The town’s small main beach boasts white sands and a peaceful waterfront, ideal for soothing days spent by the bay.  There is also an accessible walkway along the seafront that will allow wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility a more comfortable way to take in the town’s gorgeous scenery.

Local restaurants offer tapas and drinks, but the most common (and arguably most delicious!) offerings in both resorts revolve around seafood.  Make sure to try some traditional Mallorcan dishes such as gambas a la plancha, which is grilled shrimp, and tuna salad on a bed of onion, tomato and green peppers.
