Day 4 – Cuicocha

A morning visit to the Cuicocha Crater Lake at the foot of Cotacachi Volcano, where you can enjoy a boat ride and a picturesque tour of the area before lunch.  In the afternoon, the town of Cotacachi will welcome you before you return to the hotel. (B-L-D)

Day 5 – Otavalo-Amazon

Today, you will drive to the  Amazon.  During the journey, you will cross two mountain chains and seven different climate floors, and, on a clear day, even see some volcanoes.  Meet indigenous natives and learn their customs and culinary ways, experiencing a dramatic ritual by the local shaman for those interested. (B-L-D)

Day 6 – Amazon

It’s now time to explore the REAL Amazon, hiking through the secondary rainforest while being taught about the medicinal properties of the flora by a native guide.  After exploring this forest path, prepare yourself to meet the varied wildlife of the Amazon, face to face, at an animal rescue centre.  Afterwards, the two closest towns will provide entertainment and distraction, as well as the opportunity to share time with the locals. (B-L-D)

Day 7 – Amazon

Visit an association called Kallari, which produces, processes and sells cacao-chocolate bars in a sustainable way, as an alternative to traditional cacao farming.  Of course, during the day there will be numerous opportunities to sample these delicious beans and chocolate products. (B-L-D)

Day 8 – Rafting

A raft down the calm Anzu River will provide the chance to see the Amazon from a unique and beautiful perspective.  After a rewarding journey both on water and on land, you will return to the lodge for a relaxing afternoon of chatting, relaxing and the option to play games. (B-L-D)
