Accessible Holidays in Lara
Walking through this popular resort town presents visitors with a glorious shoreline, as well as reams of cosy and exciting bars, restaurants, shops and cafes.
Lara has been compared to Las Vegas, or a film set, with its exclusive pools and luxury hotels, which are often built to look like world-famous landmarks and give the area a real sense of holiday fun.
As the resort is named after the beach itself, it should be no surprise that Lara Beach is an exquisite Blue Flag blanket of golden sand stretching on for several miles. Close to the beach, the Sultan's Bazaar offers over 70 designer shops and boutiques to explore, while the cobbled streets of the nearby Kaleici area offer even more. These shops, alongside the bars and restaurants supplying high-quality food and cocktails at all hours, can be enjoyed in contrast to the more historic joys of Lara Beach, such as the Aspendos ancient amphitheatre and the Duden Waterfalls.
Like most of Turkey, Lara enjoys a hot, dry climate throughout much of the year, with winters that remain warm but are punctuated by rainfall. This weather has helped to make the region a popular winter escape as well as a delightful summer vacation resort.
In Lara, you are also less than 30 minutes away from Antalya, which rests on the Gulf of the same name. Antalya offers sights both sleekly contemporary and classically beautiful, and can be dated back to the 1st century BC, when King Attalos II told his subjects, “This must be Heaven”. The city is composed of all aspects of Turkey’s culture and history, both ancient and new. Holy buildings such as churches, mosques and madrasahs sit alongside modernised conveniences such as the countless restaurants and bars that make eating and drinking in Antalya such a joy.
