Accessible Holidays in Sagres
Relatively untouched by tourism, Sagres is a truly serene town where its seclusion is one of its most sought-after characteristics, and perfect for a restful accessible holiday. It offers access to some of the Algarve’s finest beaches and overlooks some of Portugal’s most dramatic cliffs, one of which is home to what is said to be Europe’s most powerful lighthouse.
Sagres is great for relaxing and is filled with a very laid-back ambience, plus some perfectly simple bars and cafes. While there may not be a wild nightlife or scores of shops and boutiques to visit, visitors are likely to be soothed by the ambience and delighted with the surroundings and the area’s welcoming demeanour. Restaurants mainly prepare Portuguese specialities that take advantage of the fruits of the local fishermen’s labour. Traditional dishes that cook fish and shellfish in a wide range of styles and flavourings are prevalent, while there are still some delicious examples of wholesome Portuguese meat and poultry dishes that are truly to be savoured.
Sagres is a little cooler than some other Algarve resorts, but the beauty of its bays and coves means that a day spent at the beach is never a day wasted.
